			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Stephen Cope dirige un programma del <a href="http://www.kripalu.org/" target="_blank">Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health in Massachusetts</a> intitolato <strong>&#8220;Yoga e il cervello&#8221;</strong>. I ricercatori che operano nell&#8217;ambito del programma studiano l&#8217;effetto dello yoga con la risonanza magnetica e altre tecniche diagnostiche. Da queste ricerche emergono dati sui cambiamenti misurabili che lo yoga genera all&#8217;interno del sistema nervoso e ormonale.</p>
<p>Lo Yoga aiuta concretamente a ridurre la risposta del corpo allo stress, ad esempio riducendo i livelli di <a href="http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cortisolo" target="_blank">cortisolo</a>, uno degli ormoni che stimolano, fra le altre cose, la reazione di fuga davanti al pericolo o lo stimolo alla lotta. Si tratta di un ormone che ha funzioni importanti ma che, prodotto cronicamente in eccesso, può causare problemi come ad esempio stanchezza, osteoporosi e ipertensione.</p>
<p>La pratica regolare dello Yoga aumenta inoltre la produzione di sostanze chimiche favorevoli per il benessere e il rilassamento, come <a title="acido γ-amminobutirrico (GABA)" href="http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acido_%CE%B3-amminobutirrico" target="_blank">GABA</a>, <a href="http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serotonina" target="_blank">serotonina</a> e <a href="http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dopamina" target="_blank">dopamina</a>.</p>
<p>Lo Yoga, oltre a ridurre la risposta allo stress, stimola il <a href="http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sistema_nervoso_parasimpatico" target="_blank">sistema nervoso parasimpatico</a>, responsabile del rilassamento e di attività non volontarie come la digestione. Inoltre risulta che lo yoga ha importanti funzioni anti-infiammatorie.</p>
